The People’s Vote

Welcome to the People’s Vote sponsored by Eventista. This is your opportunity to showcase your talent to the world and be in with a chance of winning an award. Children aged 7-16 can upload a monologue or a musical performance, and the public will vote for their favourite performances. The winner will have the chance to perform live on stage in London’s West End!

What You Need to Submit:

There are two age groups for each category: Age 7-11 and 12-16

  • 🎭 A one-minute monologue (maximum) or
  • 🎵 A two-minute musical solo (maximum)

Performances can be shorter but must not exceed the time limit. If you intend to apply for both categories, please complete two separate forms.

How to Enter

To submit your performance and be considered for the National School Theatre Awards People’s Vote, you must complete the Nomination Form. This form is required to upload your video and headshot and provide us with details about your performance.

Important: The form must be submitted by a parent, carer, teacher, or responsible adult if the nominee is under 18.


Summary of Your Performance

In the form, you will need to provide a brief summary of your performance. Please use the sentence starters below to help describe your piece:

For a Monologue:

  • “In my monologue, I will be performing a scene from [play/book], where [brief description of the character or situation].”
  • “This performance showcases a moment of [emotion/struggle/theme], where the character [action or emotional journey].”
  • “The monologue explores [key themes], highlighting [character’s emotion or objective].”
  • “I have chosen this piece because [reason for selection, e.g., it resonates with me, it challenges my acting skills, etc.].”

For Singing:

  • “In this performance, I will be singing [song title], originally performed by [artist/composer].”
  • “This song expresses [emotion/theme], and I will focus on conveying [specific feelings or message].”
  • “The performance will highlight my vocal range and my ability to connect with the lyrics emotionally.”
  • “I chose this song because [reason for selection, e.g., it allows me to showcase my vocal strengths, it’s a personal favourite, etc.].”

Technical Requirements:

  • The nominee’s video must be of high quality, with clear audio and good lighting.
  • The nominee’s face must be visible throughout the performance.
  • The background should be neutral and free from distractions or personal information.
  • Clothing should be age-appropriate and professional. Costumes are optional but not required.
  • The video must not exceed the specified time limit. Submissions longer than the limit will not be considered.
  • Only the nominee should appear in the video.
  • The recording should be made specifically for the People’s Vote and not be from a previous performance.

YouTube and TikTok Upload Settings

YouTube:

  • The nominee must upload their video to YouTube and set it to Public to ensure our team can access it.
  • If preferred, the video may be set to Unlisted (visible only to those with the link), but not set to Private as this would prevent our team from reviewing it.

TikTok:

  • The nominee must upload their video to TikTok and set it to Public so that it is accessible to everyone and can be reviewed by our team.
  • The video must not be set to Private as this would prevent our team from viewing it.

Photograph

  • Provide a link to a headshot photo. No further information is required.
  • The photo does not need to be professional, but it should be a head-and-shoulders shot, facing forward.
  • JPG format with a 3:4 ratio.

Important: The photo file must be named with the full name of the participant.


Terms, Conditions, and Waivers

Online Exposure & Risks:

  • The nominee’s video and photo will be publicly accessible and visible to anyone with access to the internet.
  • By submitting a video and photo, the nominee acknowledges that it may be shared, commented on, and circulated across various online platforms beyond the control of NSTA and Eventista.
  • While NSTA and Eventista will strive to maintain a positive and respectful online environment, they cannot control social media reactions, including potential negative comments, memes, edits, or unauthorised re-uploads by third parties.
  • The nominee should fully consider the risks of online sharing before submitting, as participation means their image and performance may be seen, discussed, and repurposed in ways beyond NSTA and Eventista’s control.
  • NSTA and Eventista will monitor content and take action where possible to remove offensive or inappropriate material, but they cannot guarantee complete protection from third-party misuse.

Consent & Rights:

  • If the nominee is under 18, parental/carer permission must be obtained before submission. The submission of a video and photo without the necessary consent may result in disqualification.
  • By uploading the video and photo, the nominee waives all rights to it. Once submitted, the video and photo become the property of NSTA and Eventista, and they retain the irrevocable right to use, edit, distribute, and display the content for marketing, promotional, educational, and other purposes in any media, worldwide, without further notice or compensation.
  • The nominee grants NSTA and Eventista a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use their name, image, and performance for promotional purposes.
  • A request for removal may be made, but NSTA and Eventista reserve the right to decline if the video and photo has already been used in promotional materials or public content.
  • The nominee acknowledges that once content is posted online, it may remain accessible indefinitely even if removed by NSTA or Eventista, due to sharing or re-uploads by third parties.

General Acknowledgement

By submitting a video and photo, the nominee (or their parent/carer or responsible adult, if under 18) acknowledges and agrees to these terms and conditions. The nominee understands the public nature of the competition and accepts all associated risks. NSTA and Eventista accept no liability for any unauthorised use, modification, or sharing of the nominee’s video or photo by external parties.

By submitting this form, you acknowledge and agree to all terms and conditions outlined above. No electronic signature is required—by clicking the submit button, you confirm your acceptance of these terms, and this action is legally equivalent to providing a signature.


Perform and Be Recognised

The winner of the People’s Vote will perform live in London’s West End on Monday, 23rd June 2025. Only one winner will perform, chosen based on the number of votes received.
